About Chef Pieter’s Kitchen
How it all started…
Chef Pieter Van Meenen has always had a passion for cooking and a love of food from a very young age. At age 40, he made the leap from the corporate world to pursue his dream career as a chef. After 18 years of managing food operations, seafood and import stores, retail grocery, and a chain of high-end cafés, Pieter enrolled in the Dubrulle International Culinary Restaurant Ownership Chef program at The Art Institute in Vancouver. He proudly graduated with honours on the Dean’s List and thereafter completed his Red Seal Chef certification.
From there, Pieter’s career took off – from a position at a 5-Diamond Hotel in Vancouver, to winning Gold at the “Best of the West” culinary competition, to competing on Chopped Canada. Working at The Giggle Dam Dinner Theatre in Port Coquitlam as their Executive Chef is where Pieter developed the fan-favourite “Beaver Dip” (Smoked Gouda & Jalapeno) for his creative, comedy-themed menus.
